A total of 20 civil servants in Malang have contracted the HIV / AIDS virus

(MALANG) The spread of HIV / AIDS disease suffered by a number of civil servants (PNS) within the City Government (Pemkot) Malang, is now in the spotlight. According to data from the Malang City Health Office (Dinkes), the number of cumulative civil servants in Malang City Government who contracted the HIV / AIDS virus reached 20 people.

As the State Civil Apparatus (ASN), civil servants should be role models for the wider community to fight the deadly HIV / AIDS virus transmitted through sex, rotating needles (drugs) and blood transfusions that are not sterile due to contracting the virus.

"The disease does not affect the rights of ASN as civil servants. If those government officials can still carry out their duties and functions in accordance with Law Number 5 of 2014 concerning ASN, then we must not discriminate against all ASNs, "said Drs Wasto SH, MH., Regional Secretary (Sekda) Malang in response press release from Malang City Health Office.

However, he admitted that he was concerned because the accumulation rate was relatively high. Because, if there are now 20 civil servants, then practically the husband or wife is also infected due to having intimate relations as a husband and wife (couples). If the sufferer spit lust with other people, then that other person will also be infected. "That goes into the theory of the iceberg. What appears to be 20 can be at least double because of their partners, "said Wasto.

He promised to immediately coordinate with the Health Office to localize the threat of the virus. This is in accordance with the results of the coordination meeting (Rakor) of the Health Office last week with the HIV / AIDS Commission. Certainly the Malang City Government is concerned about improving public health, including with HIV / AIDS, he said.

As data from Malang City Health Office, from a total of 3,858 HIV / AIDS sufferers in Malang since early 2005 to mid-2017, there were 3,421 people infected with the HIV / AIDS virus. They carry a variety of professions, ranging from private men and women workers, laborers, farmers, entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs, civil servants or ASN, TNI / Polri, students / students, teachers, lecturers and commercial sex workers (CSWs), housewives to children . Sadly, the number of people living with HIV / AIDS in the general population is greater than female prostitutes.

As of June 2017, there were 219 new faces of HIV / AIDS sufferers discovered. The details, in January there were 42 cases, February 34 cases, March 34 cases, April 40 cases, May 42 cases, and June 27 cases. Of this amount 63.9 percent or 140 sufferers conduct voluntary examinations. The other 79 people were conducting an examination of the initiation of the DHO officer. The high number of detected patients places Malang as the second highest in East Java Province after Surabaya.
